Welcome to clarityclassroom.com where we explore life with clarity, confidence, courage.
“If nothing changes, nothing changes. If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’re going to keep getting what you’re getting. You want change, make some.”Courtney C. Stevens, The Lies About Truth
Change is hard, but coming to terms with the need for our own change is even harder. This blog is about finding the clarity to solve problems, gaining the confidence in yourself to change and having the courage to take the actions necessary to make positive changes.
How did I come to this place?
Why did I feel the need to put myself out here on a public forum and talk about some hard stuff?
I’m a lifelong learner. I was raised to be a helper and “be the change” you want to see. So when I found a solution to my struggles, I knew that I couldn’t be the only one. I knew that there are moms of adult children who struggle with letting go of those roles of care-taking, nurturing and being uber-involved in their children’s lives for so long it became who they are. We put our needs on hold or on the back burner to meet the needs of our children. We lose our joy and inner peace when we let our adult children’s suffering affect us so deeply.
If this sounds familiar, I am here for you. If you are at the place in your life that you know you have to let go in order to live your life fully and joyfully, join me. Join me for conversations… hard conversations… that can bring clarity to how to move forward knowing that your children are capable and strong to live their lives. You can find your joy and inner peace again. If you want to join in the conversation, come on over to the facebook group Clarity, Confidence, Courage for Moms of Adult Children.
What makes me tick?
I am a wife, mom, grammy, and teacher. After teaching for 21 years, I needed to move on to new adventures. I am a lifelong learner. As the youngest of 6 children of 2 of the most creative, innovative and industrious people I know, keeping busy is ingrained in my soul. Sooo… I find new things to do and learn ranging from sewing to recording music to starting a business and this blog.
But, this is what really matters in life, right? Living our best life, with the people who have invested themselves in us. Here’s the hubs and I at our 40th Christmas in December 2019. Pretty cool, huh? (this picture was his idea – he wanted to just look at me.) It has been a great 40 years… not perfect, not without hard times or struggle… but great just the same.
This guy, my 3 sons and 11 grandchildren are why I get up in the morning. I want to be my best version for them. I want them to see a woman who struggles but strives and overcomes. I want them to know that it is never too late to learn to “know better, do better.” I want them to remember when they go through struggles in life – because they will – that they are capable, smart and resourceful enough to overcome through clarity, confidence and courage.
